PRE-FINAL ROUND OF IRONMAN WORLD HARVEST FESTIVAL 2011

Kuching, Sunday – After competing in 4 different strength tasks last week, 15 finalists of Ironman World Harvest Festival (WHF) 2011 once again competing to test their endurance by climbing the Mount Santubong today.

Finalist Jackson Michael managed to climb the legendary mount in 1 hour 8 minute.

Last week, these 15 husky lads have performed their extraordinary strength through several tasks such as, throwing gunny sack weighing 15 kg, carrying water gallon, carrying wood block weighing 60 kg and 20 meter car pulling.

This endurance obstacle is one of the activity that the finalists should performed as the result will be counted during the final competition which shall be held on May 29 & 30, 2010 at Sarawak Cultural Village.

This competition is a joint organized between the Sarawak Cultural Village and Ministry of Social Development and Urbanization (KPSU) with the Redbull and Nestle as the sponsors.

The finalists for the title Ironman WHF 2011 are Mohd Firdaus, Wan Azahar, Fazri Sedi, Reinto Jamal, Syed Ahmad, Amir Hanafi, Mohd Ghadafi, Syahrul Nizam, Mustaza Zaini, Mohd Hazlamie, Rizal Jamali, Jackson Michael, Roslan Ibrahim, Jury Amirul and Khairuddin Amir.

The winner of Ironman WHF 2011 will walk away with cash prize of RM1, 000.00, a medal and a certificate, while 1st and 2nd runner up will walk away with RM700.00 and RM500.00 respectively, a medal and a certificate. For consolation will walk away with RM150 a medal and a certificate.

Next week on Wednesday 25th May 2011, the Organizing Committee of World Harvest Festival 2011 will organized a press conference plus a mini concert of World Harvest Festival 2011 at Amphitheatre, Kuching Waterfront from 8.00 p.m. This conference will be chaired by the Assistant Minister of Tourism Sarawak cum the Chairman of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, Yang Berhormat Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip.

The mini concert will feature the invited cultural troupe from Nitto Rong Organization of Bangladesh, Batambul Rungus Matunggong of Sabah, Kumpulan Kesenian Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and Kampung Semban, Puncak Borneo. Also presented are the 15 finalists of Miss World Harvest Festival and Ironman

This year, World Harvest Festival will be held at the Sarawak Cultural Village from May 28h to 29th, 2011. Among the highlights of the 2days/1night festival beside the Ironman WHF 2010 final competition are the staging of a musical drama on Bidayuh legendary, “Selanting Kuning & the Dragon King”, International Cultural Concerts with interactive workshops on dance and music, the grand final of Miss World Harvest Festival 2011, Dayak Food Festival and many more.

So come down to Sarawak Cultural Village from May 28th to 29th to be apart of this colorful celebration. It is the perfect festival for those wanting to savour traditional music, dance, actions and cuisine. Tickets are sold at RM60 for adults and RM30 for children age 6 to 12 years old.
