Hanie Hopes For Three-M-One Win In World Harvest Festival
KUCHING: Nur Hanie Syahfira can now set her sights on winning the 'Miss Fair and Lovely Ethnic Beauty' Pageant this year after winning the 'Miss Eyesight Optic Fair and Lovely World Harvest Festival (WHF)2010' held at Boulevard Shopping Mall here, yesterday.
The title marked Hanie's second consecutive win after she was announced 'Miss Fitness Sarawak Plaza WHF' on Saturday, making her one of the front-runners for the pageant's title.
"Having won twice this weekend surely has given me lots of confidence leading to the final this May 29. All the contestants are smart and beautiful, so to be able to win this really means a lot," she said when met by The Borneo Post after the event.
For winning the 'Miss Eyesight' title, Hanie received a branded sunglass frame, a sash and a bouquet of flowers, all courtesy of one of the event sponsors -Eyesight Optic Sdn Bhd.
Earlier on, all 14 'Miss Fair and Lovely' finalists and 15' Ironman WHF 2010' were presented with sunglasses from Eyesight Optic before the beauties competed in a runway walk, parading off the sunglasses. The winner was picked through votes cast by members of the audience.
Eyesight Optic managing director Willy Khow later presented the prize to Hanie.
"Apart from the handover of sponsorship and our event today, the company will also
organise a subsidiary title for the finalists to vie for-'Miss Beautiful Eye' WHF 2010, where the result will be announced during the grand final.
"For this subsidiary title, three judges including myself will be appointed to pick out the winner, who will walk away with RM700 cash, a sash and a bouquet of flowers," explained Khow.
He also mentioned that this year's event signified Eyesight Optic's fifth-year involvement in the 'Miss Fair and Lovely' pageant.
"The first 200 members of the audience who voted today also received a RM50 voucher and all cast votes stand to win a
RM250-worth of sunglass from a lucky draw," Khow added.
WHF 2010 would be held at the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) from May 29 till 30. One of the highlights of the two-day, one-night festival apart from the pageant and Ironman competitions, would be the staging of a legendary Orang
Ulu musical drama - 'Batang Arong and the Sky Goddess: When Love Hunts for Magic'.
Other events would also include cultural concerts from Thailand, interactive workshops on dance and music, Dayak food festival and many more.
Tickets are available at RM60 for adults and RM30 for children aged six to 12 years old. If purchased before May 29, the tickets would be sold at RM25 for adults and RM15 for children.
