FIFTEEN BEAUTIES VYING FOR MISS FAIR & LOVELY WORLD HARVEST FESTIVAL(WHF) 2008 TITLE

Out of 25 semi finalists, 15 beautiful young hopefuls have made it to the final after the semi final round held on Saturday March 15, 2008 at the Sarawak Tourism Complex.

A different and unique ethnic beauty pageant, the Miss Fair & Lovely was introduced in 1999 and unlike the traditional Kumang contest, it is open to all single ladies of any race and nationalities.

This is to encourage and attract the interest and participant of non-Dayaks to celebrate a festival that has traditionally been associated with the Dayak community only. The Grand Final will take place on May 24, 2008 at the Sarawak Cultural Village.

As this year marks the 10th years of organizing Miss Fair & Lovely, the organizer broaden their wings in search for lasses in Miri, where two lucky stunning Miri lasses grabs the organizer attention.

According the WHF 2008 Festival Director, Encik Zaini Hj Zainuddin, "To win, the finalist must have grace and poise and be articulate with a sound knowledge of Sarawak and its tourism-related subject, besides being physically attractive". He also added that the beauty queen must also possess a friendly disposition, charm and confidence as she could be the next tourism "ambassador" beyond national shores.

Program lines up for the finalists include a charity program and a visit to Kampung Pueh, Sematan. The winner of Miss Fair & Lovely WHF 2008 will walk away with RM3,000 cash, a crown and other subsidiary prizes while the first and second runners-up will receive RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively and subsidiary prizes. For consolation prizes, will receive RM300 and subsidiary prizes. Other subsidiary titles up for grabs will be the Miss Beauty Photogenic Fair & Lovely WHF 2008 , Miss Anggun Talent WHF 2008 and Miss Voted Favourite Fair & Lovely WHF 2008.

To add more spice in this pageant, two new subsidiary titles to be grabbed are Best Traditional Costume and Miss Congeniality Fair & Lovely WHF 2008.

The annual beauty pageant is organized by Sarawak Cultural Village, supported by the Ministry of Urban Development & Tourism and Unilever (M) Sdn Bhd being the main sponsor.
